Game one features the Kaiser Cats, leaders of the Sunkist League versus the Norte Vista Braves who are looking to avenge their losses to Kaiser from last year. Game two features two of the top teams from the San Andreas league in San Gorgonio and Rialto. San Gorgonio has been the best team in the league offensively, posting 164 runs so far this season, but Rialto has the best pitching in the league, allowing just over three runs per game.
The nightcap features some of the top talent in southern California. Yucaipa has the top hitter (Kevin Davidson- .545 BA) and home run hitter (Tyler Sapp-6) in the Citrus Belt League, but Redlands East Valley's George Thanopoulos(.492, 4 HR) is second in both categories. Yucaipa's Davidson also leads the league on the mound in strikeouts (54) while Redlands East Valley has two pitchers (Justin Jacome and Jackson Mclelland) who are in the top five in the league in ERA. Over the last two years these programs have churned out some of the top picks in recent major league baseball drafts like current Angels star Tyler Chatwood (Class of 2008) and the Seattle Mariners' first round pick from a year ago, Taijuan Walker, who pitched in the County Clash just last year.
Kaiser and Norte Vista High Schools will kick off the action at 1:00 PM on the 7th, followed by Rialto and San Gorgonio at 4:00 PM and then the featured pairing, Yucaipa and Redlands East Valley at 7:00 PM.
