GreenJackets' Miguel Gomez Named SAL Player of the Week

Augusta, GA- The Augusta GreenJackets, Single-A Affiliate of the San Francisco Giants, are proud to announce that infielder Miguel Gomez has been named the South Atlantic League Player of the Week. This week's award reaches from the dates of June 20th through June 26th.

Through four games at the Columbia Fireflies, Gomez went 8-19. He boasted a scorching .429 On-Base Percentage and .895 OPS. Gomez also hit .421 with three home runs and six RBI.

On the season, Gomez is hitting .353 with seven home runs and 35 RBI. During his last 10 games, Gomez is 18-42, with a .429 BA, three home runs and eight RBI. This marks the third time a GreenJacket has won the award, as catcher Matt Winn and pitcher Michael Santos each took home the award for the week of May 2nd - May 8th.

Tonight, Miguel Gomez is in the lineup, and hitting 3rd as the GreenJackets battle the Asheville Tourists at 7:05pm for Feed Your Face Monday presented by WRDW and Little Caesars. Tonight's Feed Your Face Theme is A Tribute to the South, featuring lemon tarts, pecan cobbler and pimento cheese sandwiches. Grant Watson (2-4, 4.26) will be the starting pitcher versus Peter Lambert (2-3, 2.18).
