Hawks Pummel Emeralds with 16 Runs

June 29, 2016

Boise, ID: June 28, 2016 began like any other day: a bus ride back from a road trip, a quick pit stop home, and back to the ballpark for another night game. By the end of Tuesday evening however, the Hawks would set a night to remember, scoring ten times in the seventh inning, sending fourteen men to the plate, and pummeling the Eugene Emeralds by a final score of 16-6.

The Boise Hawks and Emeralds would square off for the fourth time this season, first time in Idaho. After a quiet first inning for both sides, a top of the second inning would put the Hawks in an all-too-familiar position: down by five runs. On Tuesday night however, Boise had enough.

In the fourth inning, the Hawks would send nine men to the plate, highlighted by a Wilkyns Jimenez two RBI double which would put Boise within one: 5-4.

Right back in the fifth, the Hawks would gather a one out walk courtesy of Garrett Hampson, immediately followed by a Luis Castro triple. Castro would later score on a fielder's choice by Bobby Stahel and the Hawks would grab a 6-5 lead, and never let go.

Boise would put just a few nails in the coffin in the seventh inning. The Hawks would score ten runs on the inning, send fourteen men to plate in a nightmare scenario for the Emeralds. When the damage finally concluded, every single Hawk in the lineup would score, topped off by Castro who would score four times in the ball game and rack up four RBI as well.

Not a sole player in Boise's lineup stayed silent on Tuesday night, making a night that Idaho baseball fans won't soon forget. The Hawks would take game one of the three game series against Eugene, and they did it without a single home run.

Wednesday night is Baseball Bingo Wednesday where fans can win great prizes at the ballpark during the game. For more information, check the promotional schedule on BoiseHawks.com.
