PawSox and Bulls Suspended Due To Rain

July 8, 2016

(Durham, NC) - Friday night's International League game between the Pawtucket Red Sox and Durham Bulls was suspended due to rain before the top of the fourth inning with Durham leading, 2-0. It will be made up as part of a doubleheader on Saturday evening beginning at 5:35 pm.

Thundershowers entered the Triangle area before the Bulls took to the field for the top of the fourth. After waiting one hour and ten minutes, the game was officially suspended until Saturday. It will be played to a full nine-inning completion, then followed by a seven-inning contest for game three of the series.

Durham scored each of its runs with two outs in the bottom of the first against PawSox starter Eduardo Rodriguez. After a walk to Jaff Decker, Richie Shaffer smoked an RBI double off the centerfield fence. J.P. Arencibia followed with a single that scored Shaffer and made the score 2-0.

Bulls starter Austin Pruitt allowed two hits in three scoreless innings - singles by Chris Marrero and Dan Butler - before the rains came.

The teams have yet to announce which pitchers will take to the mound when play resumes on Saturday. Radio coverage on WHJJ (920 AM) and throughout the PawSox radio network begins at 5:05 p.m.

The Sox will return to McCoy after the All-Star break on Thursday, July 14 at 7:05. The opening homestand will be highlighted by '80s-themed fireworks on Friday the 15th. Fans can get their tickets by visiting pawsox.com or calling 401-724-7300.
