Wily Mo Pena Named PCL Player of the Week
Prior to today's announcement, Peña also was honored by the league office on April 18, following the first week of the 2011 season. Last week, fellow Aces outfielder Collin Cowgill picked-up Player of the Week honors. This marks the sixth time in the last three seasons an Aces player received a weekly PCL award.
Peña enters play tonight riding a seven-game hitting streak, over which he's batted .520 (13x25) with 5 home runs, 8 RBIs and 9 runs scored. After homering three times in Saturday's doubleheader, Peña is tied for the lead among all professional batters with 12 home runs, homering at a league-best rate of once per every 8.25 at-bats. He is on pace to hit 58 home runs this season, which would set a modern-day Pacific Coast League record.
Peña recorded a pair of two-home run games this week, and now has 18 multi-homer games in his professional career. Fresno's Andrew Kown was named PCL Pitcher of the Week.
Peña and the Aces return home on Tuesday, May 10, for an eight-game homestand against the Omaha Storm Chasers and Iowa Cubs. Military, police and fire personnel have the chance to pick-up a complimentary ticket to any game on the homestand in person at the Aces Ballpark Box Office with a government-issued ID. All other tickets can be purchased at the Aces Ballpark Box Office, online at www.RenoAces.com or by phone at (775) 334-7000.
A variety of partial season ticket plans as well as prorated full-season tickets are available today.
