Cowboy Monkey Rodeo, Ghostbusters Night top bill

A big three-game series awaits State College Spikes fans starting Thursday at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park. Highlights include the return of the Cowboy Monkey Rodeo on Saturday as well as Friday's Ghostbusters Night featuring a "State Puft Marshmallow Men"-Themed Jersey-off-the-Back Auction, a chance for Pokémon GO players to have a different sort of catch at the ballpark, and $1 Beer Thursday.

The Mahoning Valley Scrappers (Cleveland Indians) will provide the opposition for all three games, with each game starting at 7:05 p.m.

Fans will be looking forward to seeing Tim "Wild Thang" Lepard and Team GhostRiders once again, as the Cowboy Monkey Rodeo comes back to State College on Saturday. The return of this unique act, featuring monkeys riding dogs herding sheep in an unforgettably entertaining experience, is presented by Stone Valley Construction, LLC.

Plus, fans will enjoy a fantastic FIREWORKS show after Saturday's game, presented by Vision Creative Solutions.

Friday, fans of pop culture and games will be satisfied by two outstanding promotions at the ballpark. The Spikes will pay tribute to one of the great movie franchises of all time with Ghostbusters Night featuring a "State Puft Marshmallow Men"-Themed Jersey-off-the-Back Auction presented by PSECU to benefit Children's Miracle Network.

The jerseys, giving a State College-centered spin on the monstrous figure at the end of the original film, will terrify opponents beyond the capacity for rational thought as well as going up for bids in a silent auction throughout the game, with the winners receiving their jerseys on the field right after the final out.

Plus, the uniforms will include special "State Puft Marshmallow Men" caps, which will be put up for bids in a Game-Used Hat Auction presented by HRI, Inc. to benefit Coaches vs. Cancer at Penn State on Saturday, July 22.

In addition, Friday features a special discount and early entry for Pokémon GO fanatics. Pokémon GO players can get $5 off a ticket to Friday's game with the code "ASH", and get into the ballpark at 5 p.m. to start tracking down even more additions to their Pokémon collections. Plus, there will be Lure Modules dropped throughout the night at the park, which already features PokeStops at the ticket office and at the Mount Nittany Conservancy sign down the left field line.

The action begins with a $1 Beer Thursday at the ballpark, presented by BIG Froggy 101. Fans can enjoy $1 12-oz. domestic draft beers from 6-8 p.m.

It's also Salute to Superheroes Night at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park. Fans are encouraged to wear the gear of their favorite superheroes as the first 1,000 fans through the gates when they open at 6 p.m. will receive a Superhero T-Shirt Giveaway, presented by McClure Mechanical Services. The T-shirts come in two varieties, so fans have the choice of Captain Ike or the Iron Spike when coming through the gates.
