Friday's game suspended by rain

July 15, 2016

A severe thunderstom forced the Grand Junction Rockies game against the Billings Mustangs to be suspended Friday night at Dehler.

The game was stopped after four innings with the Mustangs leading 2-1. Since the game was not official it will be continued when the Mustangs visit Suplizio Field next week, with a 7-inning game to follow.

The Mustangs scored two runs, one earned, in the second inning off Mike Nikorak, who left the bases loaded in the third and fourth innings, while Jose Gomez scored the Rockies run in the third inning on a wild pitch.

Gomez has a walk and a single, while Vince Fernandez tripled in the second inning to extend his hit streak to 13 games.

Jonathan Piron has two singles.
