Barstool Sports Blog Features Cougars Jerseys

Hump Day and Military Honor Photo Jersey Among MiLB Jerseys Recognized
July 19, 2016

GENEVA, Ill. - Minor League baseball teams have a reputation for creating unique jerseys for various theme nights throughout the season and the Kane County Cougars are no different.

Barstool Sports, a popular blog that writes with a satirical spin on sports as well as lifestyle pieces for men, recently featured a post with some of their favorite jerseys from Minor League baseball teams this season highlighting not one, but two jerseys worn by the Kane County Cougars this year.

The first was the Cougars new Hump Day jerseys which debuted on Wednesday, June 1 as part of the Half-Price Hump Day weekly special, presented by The GFS Store. Fans who come out to Fifth Third Bank Ballpark for Wednesday evening games are not only treated to half-price reserved and lawn seat tickets, regular-size sodas, burgers, pizza, nachos, popcorn and select souvenirs, but the chance to watch the Cougars play in a jersey featuring a camel on both the front and back of the jersey.

It's not a secret to followers of Barstool that they are big supporters of first responders as well as current and former members of the armed forces. The blog also recognized the first-ever Military Honor Photo jersey, designed by the Cougars Director of Creative Services, Emmet Broderick. Worn on Saturday, July 2 for Military Appreciation Night, the jersey featured fan submitted portraits of current military members and veterans. The photos were laid out along the shoulders of the jersey to symbolize that we carry the weight of those who protect our freedom upon our shoulders. A silent auction took place throughout the game for half of the game-worn jerseys while the remaining jerseys were available for online bidding. A portion of the proceeds from the jersey auction will benefit the Midwest Shelter for Homeless Veterans located in Wheaton, Ill.
