July 20, 2016

FRISCO, TEXAS (July 20, 2016) - The Texas Rangers announced Wednesday that Frisco RoughRiders outfielder Preston Beck has been promoted to Triple-A Round Rock. This is the Dallas native's first promotion to the Triple-A level in his career.

Beck, 25, has been on the RoughRiders roster for the entire 2016 season and was a Texas League Mid-Season All-Star. In 68 games, he posted a .289 batting average, good for sixth in the circuit among qualifying hitters. Beck also had seven home runs, 30 runs batted in, and 25 extra-base hits. Additionally, he was third on the team with 18 multi-hit games.

Beck spent the majority of the 2015 season with the Riders as well, following his promotion from Class A-Advanced High Desert on May 15. He hit .224 with five home runs and 42 RBI in 93 games with Frisco last season.

In 2014, Beck posted career highs with 11 home runs and 77 runs batted in for Class A-Advanced Myrtle Beach. He was named a Carolina League Mid-Season All-Star and was tabbed a MiLB.com Organization All-Star following the season.

The Rangers selected Beck in the fifth round of the 2012 MLB Draft out of the University of Texas at Arlington.

In a corresponding roster move, catcher Erick "Shaq" Matta has been activated off of the seven-day disabled list. The RoughRiders roster is currently at 25 players, which is the Texas League limit and includes four players on the disabled list.

The RoughRiders wrap up a four-game homestand tonight with a meeting against the San Antonio Missions. First pitch for Wednesday night's game at Dr Pepper Ballpark is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Tickets are available online at RidersBaseball.com, via email at [email protected], over the phone at (972) 731-9200, or in-person at the RoughRiders box office.
