July 21, 2016

DES MOINES - Iowa Cubs first baseman Daniel Vogelbach was traded to the Seattle Mariners along with Double-A Tennessee's righty Paul Blackburn for lefty Mike Montgomery and right-hander Jordan Pries, the Chicago Cubs announced yesterday.

Vogelbach was batting .318 with the I-Cubs, tied for ninth-best in the Pacific Coast League, with 16 homers and 64 RBI. He paces the league with a .425 on-base percentage and ranks second with 55 walks. Vogelbach also led Iowa in almost every offensive category, including hits (97), doubles (18), total bases (167), slugging percentage (.593) and OPS (.980).

The Fort Myers, Fla. native was drafted by the Cubs in the 2nd round of the 2011 draft out of Bishop Verot High School. He made stops at every level in the Cubs' system before beginning the 2016 season with Iowa for his first Triple-A stint. Vogelbach holds a career .290 minor league average through 500 games.

Iowa wraps up the homestand with a 12:08 game against Salt Lake this afternoon at Principal Park. The team then hits the road for a 12-game road trip before returning on Aug. 3 to face New Orleans. For more information or tickets, visit www.iowacubs.com.
