The versatile Zammarelli shines for the period of July 18-24
July 25, 2016

Everett, WA. - Nick Zammarelli was honored as the Northwest League Offensive Player of the Week for the period of July 18- July 24. Zammarelli had the best week of his young career facing off against the Tri-City Dust Devils and the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes. In addition, his great week came right as the team lost its three-hole hitter, Kyle Lewis, who was teammates with Zammarelli in the Cape Cod League and were roommates together here in Everett.

During the seven game stretch Nick Zammarelli put together a line of, .393/.414/.714, 11-for-28, 3 2B, 2 HR, 8 RBI, 4 R, and 1 BB.

Nick has been asked to be versatile defensively, starting games in left field, third base and first base. He is currently tied for the team lead in home runs with 4, while knocking in 19 RBIs at the half way point of the season. Zammarelli is also tied for third in the league in total hits with 39 respectively.

Nick Zammarelli is 21 years old and is from Lincoln, RI. He was drafted in the 8th round by the Seattle Mariners in 2016 out of Elon University. Nick was originally drafted by his home town Boston Red Sox out of high school in the 28th round in 2013. He decided to not sign with Boston, instead electing to attend Elon University in North Carolina. The decision proved to be a wise one, as he was selected 20 rounds earlier just 3 years later. Zammarelli credits his experience at Elon University for the gained maturity on and off the field, leading to his great start in professional baseball. With the first half behind him, Nick Zammarelli will look to lead the AquaSox to a second half championship.

The AquaSox have now had four players named Northwest League Players of the Week for the 2016 season. Ljay Newsome, Elliot Surrey, Kyle Lewis and now Nick Zammarelli have all been honored for their play as we reach the All-Star break.
