Tromp Named FSL Player of the Week
Jiandido Tromp has been named the Florida State League's Player of the Week for his performance between July 18th and July 24th.
The 22-year-old outfielder batted .471 (8-for-17) across seven games, including three home runs, a double, five RBIs, two walks, and a stolen base. Tromp went yard twice on Wednesday at Bradenton, the fifth multi-homer game of his career. He also nabbed a runner at the plate with a strong throw from left field in the eighth inning on Thursday, preventing the tying run from crossing in the Threshers 3-2 win.
In 26 games with the Threshers, Tromp has driven five homers and seven doubles for a .467 slugging percentage. Tromp was promoted to Clearwater from the Lakewood Blue Claws on June 23rd, after he hit .274 with ten home runs and 32 RBIs in the South Atlantic League this season.
Tromp was signed by the Phillies out of Oranjestad, Aruba on August 8th, 2011.
