July 30, 2016

KANNAPOLIS, N.C. (July 30, 2016) - The Kannapolis Intimidators, Class A Affiliate of the Chicago White Sox, have received infielder Zach Remillard from the Arizona League White Sox in advance of Saturday's 7:05 p.m. game against the Greensboro Grasshoppers. In a corresponding move, shortstop Johan Cruz has been placed on the Disabled List.

Remillard, 22, was a member of Coastal Carolina's College World Series championship team that defeated Arizona earlier this summer to capture the school's first ever NCAA title. The White Sox selected Remillard in the 10th round of the June 2016 First-Year Player Draft. He has played 13 games with the AZL White Sox, batting .310 (13-42) with three doubles, two triples, two home runs, and nine RBI. As a senior with the Chanticleers in 2016, Remillard led the team with 19 home runs while batting .341 with 72 RBI in 73 games during Coastal Carolina's run to Omaha.

The Intimidators roster now features two members of Coastal Carolina's championship squad as Remillard joins reliever Mike Morrison, whom the White Sox selected in the 27th round of the June 2016 First-Year Player Draft. Kannapolis now has eight members of the White Sox 2016 draft class on the roster, including Alex Call (third round), Jimmy Lambert (fifth round), Nate Nolan (eighth round), Remillard, Ian Hamilton (11th round), Ben Wright (16th round), Michael Horejsi (21st round), and Morrison.

Cruz, 20, is batting .255 with 12 doubles, a triple, five home runs, and 26 RBI in 65 games with the Intimidators in 2016.

The Intimidators are home on Saturday against the Greensboro Grasshoppers at 7:05 p.m. with gates opening at 6:00 p.m. and post-game fireworks presented by SignArt. Tickets are available by calling the F&M Bank Box Office at (704) 932-3267 or by visiting IntimidatorsBaseball.com.
