Primaries Relaunch

August 2, 2016
Vote Red or Vote Blue is back - Elect the Fisher Cats Sept. 3 Hat
Limited Edition NH Primaries Bobblehead for Fans on August 30

MANCHESTER, N.H. - The New Hampshire Fisher Cats are giving fans one last chance to exercise their right to vote as part of its We The Fans 2016 campaign. With just 21 games remaining this season, fans can vote for whether the team should wear its red elephant hat or blue donkey hat to complement its bipartisan jersey at the "We The Fans" finale game on Sat., Sept. 3 versus the Portland Sea Dogs, Double-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox. The two logos are throwbacks to the Fisher Cats' original name, the New Hampshire Primaries.
The Fisher Cats celebrated the 2016 season in bipartisan fashion by unveiling the "bipartisan jersey" worn on Opening Day with the red elephant hat that narrowly edged the vote over the blue donkey hat as voted on by fans across the country. For their efforts, the team was awarded with the "April Promotion of the Month" by Minor League Baseball (MiLB) and the MiLB Promotional Seminar.
"Celebrating 100 years of the New Hampshire Primary with our fans has been a fun and rewarding experience," said Fisher Cats President and GM Rick Brenner. "Before Opening Day, we had votes cast from all 50 states and the District of Columbia. The initial vote was almost too close to call, so we're anticipating an exciting 're-election' as we approach the end of the season."
The Fisher Cats also celebrated 100 years of the New Hampshire Primary by using their unique former moniker as an educational platform during the team's more than 40 reading challenge assemblies within local schools in partnership with Velcro Companies. Additionally, schools that attended any one of three Educational Day games were given the opportunity to vote on the team's hat and their experiences at the game via a special ballot.
For the September 3 finale, voting has been re-opened at www.wethefans2016.com, and polls will close at noon on Friday, September 2. The winning hat will be announced at the game on Saturday, September 3. In addition to voting once per day on the website, additional votes will be cast when fans purchase the hat they support or when they purchase tickets to the game on September 3.
The bipartisan jerseys will be available to fans through a charitable auction to benefit the Fisher Cats Foundation, which supports a wide variety of non-profit organizations and coordinates several fundraising programs and events.
Fans who purchase tickets to the game on September 3 no later than August 26 will also receive a ballot allowing them to determine in-game experiences including music and video themes, patriotic cotton candy color, mascot games, hot dog toppings, and more.
Continuing with the bipartisan theme, on Tuesday, August 30, the first 1,000 fans will receive a double bobblehead figurine featuring an elephant and donkey courtesy of FairPoint Communications.
