Killian and Company Blank the Drive

August 2, 2016

GREENVILLE, SC-- Trey Killian continued his dominant form over the last month with another masterful pitching performance against the Greenville Drive on Tuesday night. Killian, along with two relievers, combined to pitch the Asheville Tourists fifth shutout of the season; a 1-0 win over the Drive.

In each of Killian's last five starts, the Mountain Home, Arkansas native has limited opponents to a minimum of two runs. In four of those five starts, Trey has kept that number at either one or zero. On Tuesday, the right-hander tossed six shutout innings, allowed only one hit, and struck out four.

Asheville's defense was in true form behind Killian. Yonathan Daza and Mylz Jones each came through with diving catches while Carlos Herrera displayed tremendous range at Shortstop with a great defensive play late in the game.

Roniel Raudes was effective for the Drive. Greenville's starting pitcher also lasted six innings, but he gave up the game's only run in the top of the fifth. With two outs and runners at first and second, Terry McClure bounced a single over the head of third-baseman Michael Chavis. Sam Hilliard raced in to score from second base.

Salvador Justo threw a pair of scoreless innings behind Killian and Alexander Guillen worked around a one-out single in the ninth to notch the save. Greenville managed a total of only three hits.

The series is now knotted up at one game apiece. Wednesday's rubber match will begin at 7:05pm.
