Zander Wiel named Twins Minor League Player of the Month

Cedar Rapids, IA - The Minnesota Twins announced today that Kernels infielder Zander Wiel has been named their Minor League Player of the Month for July.

In 27 games, Wiel hit .310 (31-100) with eight HR and 24 RBI. He scored 21 runs, drew 17 walks, had an on-base percentage of .407 and a slugging percentage of .660. The Twins selected Wiel in the 12th round of the 2015 First Year Player Draft out of Vanderbilt University.

Former Kernel pitcher Trevor Hildenberger, currently at double-A Chattanooga, was named the Twins Minor League Pitcher of the Month for July.

The Kernels return to Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium on tonight at 6:35 PM to open a seven game home stand with games against Clinton and Peoria. The upcoming home stand continues through Tuesday, August 9th.
