Rookie Davis promoted to Louisville

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Right-handed pitcher and Reds seventh-best prospect according to MLB.com, Rookie Davis has been promoted to Louisville from Double-A Pensacola, the Reds announced Friday. Davis was acquired by the Reds along with Tony Renda, Caleb Cotham and Eric Jagielo for former Reds closer Aroldis Chapman on December 28, 2015. Davis was originally a 14th round pick by the New York Yankees in the 2011 amateur draft.

In 18 games, all starts for Pensacola this season, Davis is 9-3 with a 2.72 earned run average. He has pitched 96 innings and allowed 29 earned runs on 81 hits in his first full season at the Double-A level. His 2.72 ERA was third in the Southern League and his nine wins were fifth in the circuit at the time of his promotion. He has allowed three earned runs or less in 16 of his 18 Double-A starts and is 3-0 with a 1.80 ERA in his last five starts leading up to his promotion.
