Peter Bourjos to Rehab at Coca-Cola Park

Phillies OF Peter Bourjos - sidelined since July 26 with a right shoulder sprain -- is scheduled to begin a rehab assignment when the IronPigs host the Rochester Red Wings at Coca-Cola Park tonight at 6:35 p.m. Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Network is the exclusive sponsor of all Major League rehabilitation appearances at Coca-Cola Park.

Bourjos, 29, had been red-hot at the plate prior to the injury, hitting .318 since June 13. Overall in his first season in a Phillies uniform, he's batted .253 with 4 homers and 20 RBIs in 93 games.

Bourjos was claimed off waivers from the St. Louis Cardinals on Dec. 2, 2015, after hitting a career-low .200 in 117 games in 2015. Originally drafted by the Angels in the 10th round of the 2005 draft, Bourjos has appeared in 683 Major League games over parts of seven seasons. He was acquired by the Cardinals with OF Randal Grichuk for 3B David Freese and RHP Fernando Salas on Nov. 22, 2013.

The Park Ridge, Ill., native became the first player in Angels history with at least 25 doubles, 10 triples, 10 homers and 20 steals in 2011 (his first full season in the Majors) while finishing tied for the most triples in the American League with 11. During his rookie 2010 campaign, he recorded eight outfield assists in his first 26 starts, the most by a rookie in that short of a span in the previous 40 seasons.
