Late Inning Error Gives Hickory the Win

The Hickory Crawdads defeated the Rome Braves 5-4 before 4,762 fans at State Mutual Stadium. It was Rome's first loss in the last six games.

Hickory scored first taking a 3-0 lead in the second inning highlighted by a two RBI single by Alejandro Selen and a bunt single by Teodoro Martinez to score the third run of the inning. Rome made it a 3-1 game in the fourth on an RBI double by Robert Hefflinger to score David Rohm.

Rome tied the game in the fifth on a two RBI triple by Rohm for the 3-3 score. The Braves broke the tie in the sixth when Lipka singled to score Chris Garcia giving the Braves a 4-3 advantage. The Crawdads bounced back in the seventh scoring two runs on a throwing error by Edward Salcedo. Hickory's bullpen held the Braves for the rest of the way for the 5-4 win.

Joseph Van Meter (3-0) gets his third win of the season for Hickory, while Danilo Alvarez (3-2) gets the loss. Ryan Rodebaugh gets his second save of the year.
