Cougars To Host NIU Night on Thursday, August 11

GENEVA, Ill. - The Kane County Cougars will welcome Northern Illinois University (NIU) alumni, students, faculty and friends including former quarterback Chandler Harnish along with the NIU marching band and mascot Victor E. Huskie to Fifth Third Bank Ballpark on Thursday, August 11. Game time is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. against the Cedar Rapids Kernels.

Gates for NIU Night will open at 5:30 p.m. with the first 1,500 fans through the gates receiving an Ozzie T. Cougar bobblehead, courtesy of Country Financial. Harnish will be on hand to throw out a first pitch at approximately 6:15 p.m. followed by the marching band's performance of the National Anthem. NIU dancers will also be on site.

Chandler Harnish, starting quarterback for the NIU football team from 2008-11, led the Huskies to bowl appearances each of his four seasons, while accumulating more than 11,000 yards of total offense throughout his collegiate career. Following the 2010 season, he was named first team all-MAC player and received the Vern Smith Leadership Award as the best football player in the Mid-American Conference (MAC).

NIU Night will feature the weekly Thirsty Thursday special, presented by Miller Lite, with select beers, small sodas and hot dogs available for just $1. Following the game, fans will be treated to a spectacular modern-pop themed fireworks show, presented by Country Financial, while fans of all ages will be able to run the bases.

NIU students and faculty along with their family and friends are encouraged to reach out to the NIU Alumni Association regarding special ticket discount codes for Thursday's game.
