August 10, 2016

GRAND JUNCTION, CO - The Helena Brewers scored four times in the 2nd inning and never looked back, downing the Grand Junction Rockies 7-4 on Tuesday night at Suplizio Field.

Cameron Roegner (1-2) earned his first career victory, tossing five innings of two-hit ball, and a strong showing from the bullpen backed him up. Following Roegner, Santos Saldivar struck out the side in the 6th, Michael Peterson pitched into the 9th and Colton Cross earned his sixth save of the season by striking out Joel Diaz to end the ballgame.

The Brewers complimented their solid pitching with stellar defense, turning three double-plays in the infield.

Cooper Hummel had another outstanding game, reaching base safely three out of four times for the third consecutive game. Hummel's first of two hits came in the 2nd inning, snapping a 1-1 with a two run single to left. He finished the game with two stolen bases to go along with his two hits, two RBIs and two runs scored.

Ronnie Gideon doubled in his first at-bat, extending his hitting streak to 13 games, and finishing 2-for-4. He is hitting .500 (26-for-52) with six home runs, eight doubles and 16 RBIs during the course of the streak.

Gilbert Lara and Ryan Aguilar each added a pair of hits, with Aguilar driving in two runs at the top of the batting order.

With the series tied, the Brewers will turn to Nattino Diplan in the finale on Wednesday night in search of their first road series victory since June. Grand Junction will counter with Luis Guzman. First pitch is set for 7:05.
