White Sox' Brett Lawrie Joins Barons

Infielder has Appeared in 94 Games for the White Sox this Season

BIRMINGHAM, AL -- The Chicago White Sox have announced that infielder Brett Lawrie will join the Birmingham Barons to begin his Major League rehab assignment tonight. First pitch at Regions Field is set for 6:30 p.m. as the Barons take on the Chattanooga Lookouts.

Lawrie, 26, is hitting .248 (87-for-351) in 94 games with the White Sox this season, having made 92 starts for Chicago at second base. Playing in his sixth MLB season, the Langley, British Columbia native has 12 home runs, 36 RBIs, and seven stolen bases this year.

Selected no. 16 overall in the 2008 MLB draft, Lawrie appeared in 148 Southern League games with the Huntsville Stars from 2009-10, hitting eight home runs and adding 63 RBIs.

Standing 6'0" and listed at 210 pounds, Lawrie was placed on the 15-day disabled list July 27 with a strained left hamstring.
