Weigel and Riley Lead Rome to 4-1 Win
- The Rome Braves, behind the strong pitching of Patrick Weigel and two RBI by Austin Riley, defeated the Hagertown Suns Tuesday night 4-1 at State Mutual Stadium before 1,220 fans.
The Suns made it a 1-0 game in the first inning on Rhett Wiseman's sacrifice fly RBI. Rome tied the game in the third on a sacrifice fly RBI by Kevin Josephina and took the lead in the fourth thanks to Riley's (15) solo shot to left center. In the sixth, the Braves took a 3-1 advantage on Ray-Patrick Didder's run scoring single and later added another run in the eighth on Riley's RBI base hit.
Patrick Weigel, who came in to pitch in the second was masterful going seven shutout innings allowing three hits and striking out nine. Corbin Clouse pitched the final frame to preserve the
4-1 win.
Weigel (10-4) gets the victory and Suns starter Taylor Guilbeau (2-2) gets the loss for Columbia. Clouse (2) picks up the save.

1 for 4.
