Fireflies Release 2017 Regular-Season Schedule
COLUMBIA, S.C. - The Columbia Fireflies, in conjunction with the South Atlantic League, have released the team's schedule for the second season of professional baseball at Spirit Communications Park in downtown Columbia.
2017 Columbia Fireflies Schedule
The Fireflies will open the 2017 season at Spirit Communications Park on Thursday, April 6, 2016, against one of their Southern Division rivals, the Augusta GreenJackets (San Francisco Giants). The contest kicks off Columbia's first seven-game homestand of the year, which includes Augusta for a four-game series, followed by a three-game set with the Hickory Crawdads (Texas Rangers).
"As the 2016 season comes to a close, our staff is hard at work to make next year even better than our inaugural season," said Fireflies team president, John Katz. "We will open the 2017 season right here at Spirit Communications Park, with all the fanfare of our first Opening Night and more."
The Fireflies play a 140-game schedule in the South Atlantic League, with 70 home games played at Spirit Communications Park - the 2016 Ballpark Digest Ballpark of the Year. The 2017 schedule features 10 Thursday, 11 Friday and 11 Saturday night home games. Other highlights of the 2017 schedule include home games on Memorial Day (Monday, May 29, 2017), an Independence Week celebration on July 3rd and Total Eclipse of the Park (Monday, August 21, 2017, 1:00 p.m. first pitch), which will include some of the best seats in the world to view the Total Solar Eclipse of 2017.
The Fireflies will also host the 2017 South Atlantic League All Star Game on Tuesday, June 20, 2017. In addition to the game itself, the team will showcase a home run derby on Monday, June 19, a fan fest, an all-star gala and other related festivities.
"In June, we will be welcoming the future stars of Major League Baseball to Columbia for the All-Star Game," said Katz. "This is a great opportunity to showcase the best of Columbia and the Midlands region, and to showcase our community's beautiful ballpark."
The Fireflies will unveil their game times and full promotional schedule for 2017 later this fall.
2017 Season Ticket Packages - Existing season ticket members will have a priority period to renew and reserve their same seat locations for 2017. Following that period, season tickets will be available to the general public. If interested in a new ticket package, please contact the Fireflies to be added to a priority list.
