Potomac Nationals to unveil new mascot

Woodbridge, VA -- The Potomac Nationals, Carolina League affiliate of the Washington Nationals, announce plans to unveil a new mascot at Pfitzner Stadium.

The unveiling will take place this Saturday, April 30, 2005, during the 7:05 p.m. game against the Frederick Keys, Carolina League affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles.

The mascot, whose identity has been kept secret since the Potomac Nationals changed their name from the Cannons in February, will be revealed at the end of the second inning. Kids from SERVE Inc. Shelter in Manassas will be on the field to greet the new mascot. SERVE Inc. is a non-profit emergency assistance organization that serves individuals and families in Western Prince William County, Manassas, and Manassas Park.

Gates for the game will open at 5:30 p.m. and fans are also encouraged to stay for the fireworks display which will follow the conclusion of the game.
