Left-hander Stephen Peterson promoted to Colorado Springs

The SL All-Star had appeared in a league-leading 52 games this season

BILOXI, MS. - The Milwaukee Brewers have announced the following roster move that impacts the Biloxi Shuckers' roster prior to Wednesday's 6:40 p.m. series opener against the Mobile BayBears. LHP Stephen Peterson has been promoted from Biloxi to AAA Colorado Springs.

Peterson, 28, appeared in a league-high, 52 games during his time with the Shuckers this season. During that stretch, the Danvers, Mass. native posted career-bests in ERA (2.77) and wins (8). The six-year veteran won his first seven decisions of the year from April 10-June 14. Peterson also ranked T-3rd in the Southern League with nine holds. 

The southpaw spent the previous three seasons with the Brevard County Manatees, going 13-8 with a 3.16 ERA (66er/188.2ip) and 150 strikeouts. Over his six-year career, the 6'3" hurler is 25-16 with a 3.08 ERA (107er, 312.1ip) with 266 strikeouts in 195 relief appearances.

Peterson was signed as a non-drafted free agent by the Brewers in 2011 out of the University of Rhode Island.

The Shuckers return to MGM Park tonight for game one of a five-game series against the Mobile BayBears starting Wednesday. RHP Luis Ortiz (0-0, 0.00) will take the mound in the opener for Biloxi against Mobile's LHP Josh Taylor (3-1, 2.90). First pitch is scheduled for 6:40 p.m., with coverage starting at 6:20 p.m. on the Biloxi Shuckers' Radio Network's flagship station WGCM 1240 AM, 100.9 FM, Pascagoula's WPMO 1580 AM and the TuneIn Radio app.

Thursday is Double Play Thursday with $2 hot dogs, $2 soft drinks and $2 off select draft beer and reserved level tickets. Thursday will feature the Ohr-O'Keefe Museum of Arty Jersey Auction featuring George Ohr's iconic photo on the jersey. The Shuckers will wear them during batting practice pregame and will auction these jerseys off with proceeds to benefit the museum.
