Dodgers Stun Isotopes with Walk-Off Victory
Corey Brown hit a walk-off two-run home run in the ninth inning to send the Oklahoma City Dodgers to a 3-2 victory over the Isotopes (57-66) on Wednesday evening at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.
All three of the Dodgers runs came by way of home runs, as Andrew Toles hit a solo shot in the first inning to give Oklahoma City a 1-0 lead. The Isotopes tied the score at 1-1 in the second inning on a sacrifice fly from Alex Castellanos.
Tom Murphy started the fourth inning with a mammoth home run to left, putting Albuquerque ahead 2-1. The home run was Murphy's 16th of the season, tying him with Stephen Cardullo for the team lead.
Isotopes starting pitcher German Marquez yielded just two hits and one run in his six innings on the hill. The right-hander also compiled six strikeouts during his outing.
Marquez gave way to reliever Shane Carle who tossed two scoreless frames with four strikeouts. Simon Castro came in for a save opportunity in the ninth inning, but allowed a lead-off single to O'Koyea Dickson before Brown ended the game with home run over the right field wall.
The Isotopes and Dodgers play the third game of their four-game set tomorrow night. Albuquerque left-hander Harrison Musgrave (7-6, 4.57) will go for his team-leading eighth win of the season, while Lisalverto Bonilla (2-4, 4.77) will get the start for Oklahoma City. First pitch from Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark is slated for 6:05 p.m.
