Offense Silenced After Hot Start

August 18, 2016

An early lead did not last for the Tri-City Dust Devils (8-12, 27-31) on Tuesday night as the team lost 3-2 in the first game of the road series with the Everett AquaSox (14-6, 32-26). Kyle Overstreet drove in both of the team's runs in the bottom of the first with a two-out single.

The Dust Devils scored their two runs off of Steve Cishek, the Seattle Mariners reliever who was making a rehab start with Everett. Cishek gave up a total of three singles in his one inning of work against Tri-City. In addition to Overstreet, Nate Easley and Chris Baker as came away with base hits.

Everett erased the Dust Devils' lead in the bottom of the fifth inning. Tri-City third baseman Westhers Magdaleno committed an error that allowed the first batter of the inning to reach safely. Braxton Lorenzini would go on to give up two runs in the inning, but both of them were unearned because of Magdaleno's error. The Dust Devils fell silent at the plate in the late innings. Tri-City had only three base runners over the final six innings of the game.

The Dust Devils will send left-hander Logan Allen to the mound as the team looks to bounce back on Thursday night. Allen will be making a rehab appearance with the team. Everett will counter with right-hander Robert Dugger. Tri-City will return home on Saturday to begin a five-game homestand. There will be a postgame fireworks show presented by Pizza Hut after the team's first game back at Gesa Stadium. It will also be Scout Night sponsored by Big 5 Sporting Goods. Great seats are available by calling the Dust Devils' front office at (509) 544-8789 or by going to www.dustdevilsbaseball.com to purchase tickets.
