Ben Hendrickson To Open Season With Omaha

March 27, 2007
KANSAS CITY, MO - The Kansas Royals have acquired right-handed pitcher Ben Hendrickson from the Milwaukee Brewers in exchange for catcher Maxim St. Pierre. Hendrickson will join the roster at Triple-A Omaha.

Hendrickson, 26, has pitched well so far this spring for the Brewers, recording a 1-0 record and a 2.45 ERA in 5 appearances. The 6-foot-4 right-hander has seen Major League time with Milwaukee both in 2004 and last season, compiling a 1-10 record with a 7.41 ERA in 14 games, including 12 starts. He pitched extremely well at Triple-A Nashville in 2006, posting a 9-8 record with a 3.36 ERA in 23 starts. A native of St. Cloud, Minn., Hendrickson had been with the Brewers his entire professional career following his selection in the 10th round of the 1999 draft.

St. Pierre, 26, signed with the Royals as a minor league free agent on Jan. 24 of this year. He was a non- roster invite to Major League Spring Training, but saw limited action playing in two games and singling in his only at bat. The Quebec, Canada resident was a 26th round pick of the Detroit Tigers in 1997.
