"What a great way to honor a great ball club," Hooks president J.J. Gottsch said. "That team provided so many thrills over the course of what became a dream season for all of us.
"Some players will be back with us this year. A good many have moved on to Round Rock. This is one last opportunity to see many of your favorites at Whataburger Field, some of whom were instrumental in our success over the first two years of Hooks Baseball."
Among those expected to appear Sunday: Josh Anderson, Jonny Ash, Kevin Davidson, Chance Douglass, Paul Estrada, Osvaldo Fernando, Juan Gutierrez, Ronnie Martinez, Josh Miller, Josh Muecke, Troy Patton, Hunter Pence, Brian Peterson, Chad Reineke, Mark Saccomanno and Aaron Williams, plus field manager Dave Clark, hitting instructor John Tamargo, Jr. and trainer Jamey Snodgrass.
The Hooks defeated Wichita, 3-1, in a best-of-five series for the league title, Corpus Christi's first since 1958. The clincher came on Friday night, Sept. 14, when Wade Robinson's 14th-inning single scored Jorge Cortes from second base for an 8-7 triumph 10 minutes after midnight.
The TL rings were designed and manufactured by Intergold, the choice of many championship teams in Major League Baseball, the NBA, WNBA, NHL, CFL and college athletics. Over the last five years, Intergold has produced rings for the 2006 World Series Champion St. Louis Cardinals, 2006 American League Champion Detroit Tigers, 2005 National League Champion Houston Astros, 2003 World Series Champion Florida Marlins and 2002 World Series Champion Anaheim Angels. The Los Angeles Galaxy, Tampa Bay Lightning, Detroit Pistons, Detroit Red Wings and New Jersey Devils have also had the firm create their championship rings.
