Lindblom Promoted to LA

May 29, 2011
The Los Angeles Dodgers have announced that RHP Josh Lindblom has been promoted from Chattanooga to Los Angeles. Lindblom joins Javy Guerra and Rubby De La Rosa as pitchers who have made the direct jump from Chattanooga to Los Angeles this season.

Lindblom, who has served primarily as the Lookouts' closer this season, is currently tied for third in the Southern League in saves with seven. The big righty has posted a 1-3 record to go with a 2.96 ERA on the season. In 24.1 innings, he has struck out 33 opposing batters, while yielding 22 hits and 11 walks. Additionally, he has not yielded a run in seven out of his last eight appearances for the Lookouts.

The former second-round pick of the 2008 First-Year Play Draft out of Purdue University first pitched for the Lookouts in 2009, mainly as a starter, before being promoted to Albuquerque. Last season, he split time between the two roles for Albuquerque, where he finished the season 3-2 with a 6.54 ERA. In June of last season, he made the full transition to becoming a relief pitcher.

Lindblom, 23, entered the season ranked as the Dodgers' 16th best prospect per Baseball America.
