Darnell McDonald to begin Rehab with PawSox
Boston Red Sox outfielder Darnell McDonald will begin a rehab assignment with the PawSox on Tuesday Night. McDonald was placed on the Red Sox DL this past Thursday with a left quadriceps strain. He appeared in 19 games (12 in the outfield) for the Red Sox this season hitting .143 (3-for-21) with 1 HR. Darnell began last season as a member of the PawSox playing in 10 games and hitting .341 which led to an April 20th promotion to Boston where he played for the remainder of the 2010 season batting .270 in 117 games with 9 HR & 34 RBI. In his Red Sox debut on April 20 vs. Texas at Fenway Park he hit a game-tying, pinch-hit HR in his first at-bat in the 8th-inning and then delivered the game-winning single with tw outs in the bottom of the 9th-inning. McDonald, 32, was a 2006 International League All-Star for Durham (.292/14/57) and was selected to play in the 2006 and 2008 Triple-A All-Star Games. He has played for seven International League franchises in his 14-year pro career - Rochester, Ottawa, Buffalo, Durham, Columbus, Rochester (again), Louisville, and Pawtucket.
