Knights Pitching Staff Leads Knights to Win
Heath Leads a Bullpen Effort to Charlotte Victory
FORT MILL, S.C. - Charlotte Knights pitcher Deunte Heath made his first start of the season and pitched them to an 8-2 win over the visiting Buffalo Bisons. Heath was forced to make a spot start after scheduled starter Jeff Marquez was promoted to the major leagues yesterday.
Heath allowed one run over four innings and was able to take advantage of some early run support. The Knights scored a pair of runs in the second inning on consecutive doubles from Lastings Milledge and Drew Garcia. After allowing a run in the first inning, Heath cruised through the final three innings as he retired 10 of the next 12 he faced. Brandon Kloess earned the win as he relieved Heath and pitched three innings of scoreless relief.
The Knights were able to put the game out of reach with back-to-back home runs from Dayan Viciedo and Tyler Flowers. It was the third time this season that the Knights have hit back-to back home runs in a game. Both Milledge and Garcia hit two doubles in the game.
The Knights and Bisons continue their series tomorrow at 7:15 PM. The Knights will start RHP Freddy Dolsi and Buffalo will start RHP Dylan Owen.
