In the bottom of the fifth, Charleston pushed across two more runs, taking advantage of the fourth Hagerstown error of the game. On the play Katoh tried to advance to second, and eventually scored on a throwing error on the Hagerstown first baseman, Grant DeBruin.

The RiverDogs were able to capitalize on the four errors committed by the Suns, but also put together an 11-hit performance. Holder, Conde, and Alvarez combined for six of those hits, as each of them went 2-for-4 at the plate with a run scored. Alvarez had two RBI's.

The RiverDogs scored another run in the bottom of the fourth inning on an infield single from Alvarez. Cesar Diaz got things going with an infield single to short followed by a Holder single to left. Conde led things off with an infield single to short, but was replaced at second by the next batter Alvarez. Alvarez grounded into a fielder's choice, but the throw got away from second baseman Ian Sagdal, whose throw sailed into the RiverDogs' dugout. After a lineout from Jackson, Sweeney stepped in and drove Alvarez home from second with an RBI single to center making it a 3-1 contest.
