September 2, 2016

The Kansas City Royals have announced a series of transactions that affects their Triple-A Omaha Storm Chasers roster prior to Friday evening's series-opening matchup against the Oklahoma City Dodgers at Werner Park.

Infielder Hunter Dozier's contract has been selected by the Royals and is set to make his Major League debut when he first appears in a game for Kansas City. In 103 contests with the Storm Chasers this year, Dozier hit .294 (115-391), adding 65 runs, 36 doubles, one triple, 15 homers and 54 RBI. At the time of his promotion, his 36 two-baggers rank Dozier second in the Pacific Coast League.

Dozier has also totaled 44 doubles in 2016 between Omaha and Double-A Northwest Arkansas, ranking him tied for second in Minor League Baseball. He also ranks tied for third among all minor leaguers in extra-base hits (68), as well as tied for ninth in total bases (259). The 24-year-old would be the fourth 2016 Storm Chasers player to make his Major League debut with the Royals this year, joining infielder Whit Merrifield, outfielder Brett Eibner and right-hander Brooks Pounders.

In addition, catcher Tony Cruz and infielder Whit Merrifield have been recalled to Kansas City from Omaha. Cruz has tallied a .264 average (84-318) in 92 games with the Storm Chasers, adding 32 runs, 18 doubles, seven homers and 28 RBI. Merrifield has compiled a .266 clip (73-274) along with 46 runs, 19 doubles, eight homers and 29 RBI, as well as 20 steals in 22 attempts.

The Royals have also announced right-hander Wade Davis has completed his Major League Rehab Assignment with the Storm Chasers and activated from the Major League 15-Day Disabled List. Davis fired a scoreless inning in each of his two appearances with Omaha, totaling three strikeouts.

In corresponding moves announced on Thursday, catcher Allan de San Miguel has been transferred to Omaha from Double-A Northwest Arkansas, while right-hander Benino Pruneda and outfielder Brandon Downes have joined the Storm Chasers from High-A Wilmington.

The Storm Chasers continue the final homestand of the 2016 season by beginning a four-game series against the Oklahoma City Dodgers this evening at Werner Park. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. at Werner Park. RHP Alec Mills (4-3, 4.67) is expected to get the nod for Omaha, while the Dodgers are anticipated to send RHP Jose De Leon (7-1, 2.61) to the hill.

Tickets for tonight and all remaining 2016 Storm Chasers home dates through Labor Day are still available and can be purchased online at www.omahastormchasers.com/tickets or by calling the Werner Park Ticket Office at (402) 738-5100.
