PREVIEW:
The Red Wings are now 2.5 games behind Lehigh Valley for the IL wild card playoff spot, after the Red Wings defeated the IronPigs 1-0 Wednesday night. If the Wings win the next four games in a row, they will clinch the Wild Card.
LHP Jason Wheeler will take the mound for the Red Wings in tonight's matchup. Wheeler is 11-5 with a 3.23 ERA this season. He last faced Lehigh Valley on August 7. Wheeler threw six innings with eight hits, four earned runs, four walks and one strikeout and earned a loss for that game. He most recently pitched on August 28 against Scranton/WB when he picked up his fifth loss of the season after throwing seven innings with six hits, three earned runs, two walks and three strikeouts. IronPigs right-hander Ben Lively is second in the league in ERA, just ahead of Wheeler. He has six wins in his last 7 starts including an August 7 win against the Wings. Lively was 7-0, 1.87 ERA at Double-A Reading before being promoted to Lehigh Valley.

Double-A Chattanooga defeated Jackson Thursday night, 3-2. Zach Granite was vital in the team's success; he was 2-5 with a double and a two-out RBI. Todd Van Steensel picked up his first win after throwing three innings with three hits, one walk and three strikeouts. Raul Fernandez earned his sixth save of the season after pitching one inning with two walks.
