BayBears Game Suspended By Rain In Jacksonville

September 3, 2016

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Rain suspended Friday night's game at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville between the Jacksonville Suns and the Mobile BayBears. Play was stopped in the bottom of the third inning with one out and Jacksonville leading Mobile 5-1.

The game is scheduled to be completed beginning at 4:05 p.m. central time on Saturday. A seven-inning game will follow the completion of Friday's suspended contest.

The Suns jumped out to an early lead, scoring four runs in the bottom of the first inning. BayBears LHP Josh Taylor was taken out of the game with just two outs in the first inning. It was a rocky start for the lefty who threw 38 pitches in the 0.2 innings of work he put in on the mound before the bullpen took over.

Jacksonville went up 1-0 on a lead-off solo home run from Kenny Wilson. Austin Dean followed with a triple and scored on a Alex Glenn RBI double. A wild pitch moved Glenn to third base and the Suns went up 3-0 when Glenn scored on a RBI ground-out from Brian Anderson. After Taylor walked the next batter, Peter Mooney then hit a two-out double and Cam Maron laced a two-run single to left, giving Jacksonville a 5-0 lead.

Mobile answered with a run in the top of the second inning. Dawel Lugo doubled and then scored on RBI single from Oscar Hernandez to make it 5-1.

In the bottom of the third inning the rain started and the game was delayed and eventually suspended. Play will resume Saturday with one out in the bottom of the third inning.
