Kyle Jensen earns first MLB call-up

September 3, 2016

RENO - The Reno Aces (@Aces), in conjunction with the Arizona Diamondbacks (@Dbacks), announced the contract of first baseman/outfielder Kyle Jensen (@TheKJensen42) has been purchased by the D-backs, marking the slugger's first career promotion to the Major Leagues.

In 133 games with the Aces, the 2016 Pacific Coast League All-Star batted .289 (144-for-498) with 30 home runs, two triples, 34 doubles, 120 RBI, 77 runs scored and one stolen base. His RBI total is tied with Reading's Dylan Cozens for the most in professional baseball this year, and represents an Arizona Triple-A single-season record. In addition, Jensen's homer tally leads all Triple-A players and is tied with Ernie Young of the 1999 Tucson Sidewinders for the most in a season by a member of Arizona's top affiliate. In recognition of his outstanding season, Reno's slugger was chosen as an All-PCL selection and finished as the runner-up for the league's Most Valuable Player award.

Jensen, 28, will join the Diamondbacks for their game tonight at Denver's Coors Field against the Colorado Rockies. 2016 marks Jensen's first season with the Aces after he signed with Arizona as a minor league free agent on November 11, 2015. He is a career .266 hitter (910-for-3,427) with 178 home runs, 631 RBI, 502 runs scored and 18 stolen bases. The California native originally was selected by the Florida Marlins in the 12th round of the 2009 MLB June Amateur Draft out of St. Mary's (Calif.) College. Jensen was named the PCL Player of the Month and the D-backs Organizational Player of the Month for June.

In additional roster moves, right-handed pitcher Edgar Garcia was placed on the temporary inactive list before Friday's game. On Saturday, infielder Sean Jamieson was reinstated from the disabled list, while right-handed pitcher Vicente Campos was optioned (August 31) from Arizona and will start tonight's game at Tacoma.
