High Winds Force Cancellation of Tonight's Fireworks Show at McCoy

September 4, 2016

Per the Fire Marshall and the state fire code, the forecast of strong winds from Tropical Storm Hermine that are blowing in from the outfield will prevent the Pawtucket Red Sox from displaying fireworks after their 6:05 p.m. game this evening. The playing of tonight's game is not jeopardized. The PawSox are scheduled to conclude their 2016 season with a 1:05 p.m. game on Labor Day at McCoy Stadium.

"We wish that the weather and the winds would have cooperated this evening, but fan safety is paramount for us and for our public safety officials," said PawSox President Dr. Charles A. Steinberg. "As a small gesture of appreciation for the wonderful support of our fans all summer long, fans may hold onto their ticket stubs and exchange them for any 2017 regular season home game once tickets go on sale for next season."
