Sounds have a Field-er day

Prince, Hart both homer twice, drive in six runs
August 7, 2005
Corey Hart and Prince Fielder formed a formidable 1-2 punch for the Nashville Sounds on Saturday night, both homering twice and knocking in six runs in a 15-11 victory over the Colorado Springs Sky Sox.

Hart and Fielder hit back-to-back blasts in the third inning to give the Sounds a 6-3 lead. Hart connected for another two-run shot in the sixth and Fielder slugged a two-run bomb in the following inning.

Hart was 3-for-5 with a two-run triple, while Fielder went 5-for-5 with an RBI single in the first and a two-run single in the fourth. The pair combined to drive in Nashville's first 10 runs and each finished with 11 total bases, the most by a Sound since Craig Wilson had 12 in a three-homer game on June 6, 2000.

The first four hitters in Nashville's lineup -- Dave Krynzel, Warren Morris, Hart and Fielder -- each scored three runs. Krynzel went 3-for-6 and Morris had two hits. Every hitter in the order, including pitcher Mike Meyers, collected at least one of the team's season-high 18 hits by the sixth.

Meyers (5-4) picked up the win, despite allowing five runs -- three earned -- on eight hits in five innings. He struck out four without issuing a walk.

Jason Young (9-7) took the loss after surrendering eight runs on 10 hits in 3 2/3 innings with a walk and two strikeouts.

The Sky Sox hit homers off four different Sounds' pitchers. Choo Freeman smashed a two-run homer off Meyers in the second, Tom Wilson launched a three-run bomb off Brett Evert in the seventh, Jeff Baker belted a two-run dinger off Mitch Stetter in the eighth and Ryan Spilborghs connected for a solo shot off Jose Capellan in the ninth.

Baker, who scored four runs, and Wilson each went 4-for-5.

Colorado Rockies catcher Todd Greene, rehabbing a strained right hamstring, went 0-for-3 for Colorado Springs. The 34-year-old is 3-for-10 in four games with the Sky Sox this season.
