Bradenton Musters Two Hits in 8-0 Loss

Charlotte's Lobstein allows one hit in seven innings
June 4, 2011
BRADENTON, FL - The Bradenton Marauders, Class A-Advanced affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates, dropped the final game of a homestand Saturday, falling 8-0 to the Charlotte Stone Crabs at McKechnie Field.

The game was decided in the first at-bat when Hak-Ju Lee singled off Brett Lorin. He would come in to score three batters later on a Greg Sexton sacrifice fly. Lorin settled in after that, retiring the next 12 batters in some order after the Lee single. He allowed one more run in the fifth and was pulled after that.

The tall righty was replaced by Eliecer Navarro in the sixth and Charlotte feasted. Five of the first seven batter Navarro faced reached including a triple from Brett Nommenson and a three-run homerun by Mark Thomas. The inning ended with a 6-0 score. The Crabs added two more in the seventh on a Sexton RBI single, his league leading 47th and 48th this season.

Kyle Lobstein stole the show though with seven innings of one-hit baseball. Ramon Cabrera broke up the no-hitter for Lobstein with an infield single in the fourth. An error on the throw put Cabrera at second. Evan Chambers later doubled off Scott Schuman out of the bullpen.

The Marauders fall to 23-33 and take on the Stone Crabs again Sunday at 1:30 at Charlotte Sports Park. Kyle McPherson throws against Alex Colome. Radio coverage begins at 1:15 on WTMY 1280-AM. For more information call 941-747-3031 or visit BradentonMarauders.com.
