Missions Fall to Cards 6-4
After three innings the game was tied 3-3 but Arkansas took the lead for good in the fourth on a sacrifice fly by Ryan Jackson. The Travs pushed across two more in the eighth to go up 6-3. There was no magic for the Missions tonight who had won their previous three games in walk-off fashion. San Antonio would score one on an RBI double by Ali Solis, but Arkansas closer Jorge Rondon got the next three Missions batters to secure the victory.
Tonight was the first time in the last four games the Missions did not hit a home run and just the seventh time all season they haven't gone deep at home.
San Antonio (36-18) now leads the second place Frisco RoughRiders by six games in the Texas League south.
Game two of the series is set for Sunday at 4:05 p.m. The first 500 kids 12 and under will receive Missions batting gloves presented by Kellogg's.
