Owlz and Angels Extend Affiliation in Orem

The extension is signed through the 2018 season
September 10, 2016

Before Saturday's home playoff game in the south division finals, the Orem Owlz announced its Player Development Contract (PDC) with the Angels has been extended through the 2018 Pioneer League season.

Professional baseball first arrived in Utah County in 2001 in Provo. The organization was named the Angels after their parent club and they have not left the Angels family in the last 15 years.

After plans were made for Utah Valley University to build a new baseball facility in nearby Orem, the school and the team reached an agreement for both clubs to use the facility. With the move from Provo to Orem, a new name came about for the ballclub: the Orem Owlz.

Now with four total Pioneer League Championships (three in Orem, one in Provo) in 15 years, the Owlz and Angels will continue their partnership that has seen big-leaguers like Kole Calhoun, Mark Trumbo, C.J. Cron, and many others begin their journeys at the base of Mt. Timpanogos on the Wasatch Front at the Home of the Owlz.
