River Cats unveil 2017 schedule
West Sacramento, CA - Now that the 2016 Triple-A season has come to a close, the Sacramento River Cats and Minor League Baseball are already turning an eager eye to 2017. As the first step in preparing for next year, the River Cats are excited to unveil their 2017 schedule.
Sacramento start the season at home at Raley Field on Thursday, April 6 as they welcome the defending Pacific Northern Division Champion Tacoma Rainiers (Seattle Mariners) for a five-game series.
The 2017 schedule is down from 144 games to 142 as Minor League baseball makes a move toward a less demanding travel schedule.
The River Cats will play on multiple holidays next season, including Father's Day (6/18) and the third of July (7/3). They will conclude the regular season at home on Labor Day (9/4).
The schedule boasts 24 weekend dates, including 12 Sutter Health Fireworks Saturdays and 10 Orange Fridays. While game times have not yet been announced, next season's schedule will include 13 home day games.
The 2017 All-Star break will again take place in the second full week of July from Monday, July 10 - 12 in Tacoma, Washington at Cheney Stadium, home of the Tacoma Rainiers. The final game of the regular season will be Monday, September 4th at home against the El Paso Chihuahuas (San Diego Padres).
