Express to Continue with Postgame Fireworks
Williamson County officials came to a resolution Tuesday regarding area fireworks displays in lieu of drought conditions in Central Texas. The ruling allows Round Rock Express Baseball to continue with postgame fireworks shows.
The following statement was released by county officials:
On Tuesday, June 14, 2011, at 2 p.m., Williamson County Judge Dan A. Gattis signed an order declaring a local state of disaster for Williamson County due to exceptional drought conditions. The order also prohibits the sale and use of fireworks in Williamson County. The restriction on the sale or use of fireworks shall continue for a period of 60 hours unless extended by the Governor for the State of Texas. A letter requesting the extension of the declaration was sent to Governor Rick Perry today.
The declaration and order does not prohibit public displays of fireworks if they are: conducted by a licenses pyrotechnics company or individual who is authorized and permitted to conduct a public display of fireworks in accordance with Chapter 2154 of the Texas Occupations Code; are approved and permitted by the local jurisdiction responsible for fire response and service to the location of the public display; and is not conducted on a day this is designated as a red flag warning day by the National Weather Service.
Safety is always a top priority during events at The Dell Diamond. The professionally produced Round Rock Express Baseball fireworks shows always have the supervision and support of a Fire Marshall, and a fire engine always is on site.
