Qualben, Legends cool Suns

David Qualben recorded 10 strikeouts over five innings as Lexington beat visiting Hagerstown, 5-2, on Wednesday night.

Qualben (2-0) allowed one run on five hits without walking a batter. Kyle DeYoung yielded a run on six hits and a walk over 2 1/3 innings, and Santo Luis tossed 1 1/3 scoreless frames for his second save.

James Van Ostrand went 2-for-4 with three RBIs, including a two-run double during the Legends' four-run second inning.

The Suns cut the deficit to 4-1 in the third. With two outs, Jarrett Reininger singled and Michael Daniel tripled, but Qualben struck out Stephen King to escape further damage.

King delivered a solo home run in the eighth for Hagerstown (2-5), while Joe Napoli collected three hits for Lexington (5-2).

Suns starter Matthew Perks (0-2) surrendered four runs on three hits and three walks while striking out three over five innings. Greg Bunn allowed a run on four hits and three walks in three frames. --Shane Figueroa/MLB.com
