Fresno Fuego exhibition match with Fresno State moved to October 29
FRESNO, Calif. - The friendly between the Fresno Fuego and Fresno State Men's Club Soccer at Chukchansi Park, originally scheduled for Friday, October 28, will now be played on Saturday, October 29; kickoff is still at 7 p.m. Please see the original release below for full details. The evening will feature a game-worn jersey auction of pink Fuego uniforms, as the match will also double as a charitable fundraiser for Susan G. Several weeks ago when the date of the match was originally agreed to by each club, Fresno State's home football game against Air Force was scheduled for the following day on 10/29. With the football game now moved to Friday night the 28th due to television schedules, organizers decided the soccer match was best scheduled for Saturday the 29th. Tickets to the match, which are on sale now, begin as low as $6 and can be purchased at FresnoFuego.com, the Chukchansi Park ticket office, or the day of the match.

Fuego to take on Fresno State Club in a community charity match on Saturday, October 29 in special pink jerseys benefiting Susan G. Komen Central Valley
FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno Fuego (USL Premier Development League) will be back in action at Chukchansi Park for offseason exhibitions, the first of which is on October 29. The Fuego are coming off a regular season in which they were champions of the Central Pacific Division of the PDL with a 10-3-1 record.
On Saturday, October 29, the Fuego will take on Fresno State Men's Soccer Club at 7 p.m. Tickets for the match will go on sale Friday, October 7 beginning at 9 a.m. at the Chukchansi Park ticket office or at FresnoFuego.com. "It is with immense pride that Fresno State Men's Club accepts the invitation to join the Fresno Fuego in a community exhibition match at Chukchansi Park," said Darren Holden of the Fresno State club. After the university lost its NCAA men's team in 2004, our men's student club program has gradually established a tradition of soccer excellence at Fresno State."
"This charity match is a partnership to benefit Susan G. Komen Central Valley and bring awareness to the fight against breast cancer while honoring the history and heritage of our opponent" said, Fresno Fuego General Manager Jeremy Schultz. "The influence of the Fresno State program remains vibrant amongst the local soccer faithful, we hope to recognize and acknowledge the amazing roots of the program that have shaped many of the leaders within our soccer community. This is a special game, supporting a significant cause with Susan G. Komen and we take great pride in establishing a partnership with two incredible organizations within our community. "
With October being breast cancer awareness month, the October 29 match will include the Fuego wearing special pink jerseys, which will be available for fans to bid on in a silent auction on the concourse during the match. The proceeds from the game-worn jersey auction will benefit Susan G. Komen Central Valley, who has also partnered with the Fresno Grizzlies during the baseball season on similar events.
"We are very grateful to partner with the Fresno Fuego during National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. They see that Komen Central Valley understands the power of partnerships in breaking down barriers to breast cancer education, screening and treatment. By sharing messages of breast self-awareness with the community during this game, we can all fight this disease together" said Sharon Johnson, executive director of Susan G. Komen Central Valley.
Additional Fresno Fuego exhibition matches are being planned for the fall and spring, and will be announced at a later date. The PDL regular season begins in May. For more information on the Fresno State club program, including a match schedule, please visit FresnoStateClubSoccer.com.
