President, GM, COO Alan Ledford to leave Cats

June 16, 2011
Sacramento River Cats President, GM, and COO, Alan Ledford, announced today that he has resigned and will be leaving the organization to pursue future business interests in the sports and entertainment industry.

"I am incredibly proud of all we've accomplished during my tenure with the River Cats and Raley Field, and will always be grateful to Art and Susan Savage for the opportunity, experience, and friendship," said Ledford. "Over the course of nearly nine (9) seasons, I have had the privilege to work with an extremely talented and dedicated staff, as well as community and business partners who supported us in a remarkable way. The River Cats are well positioned for the future, and I'm very excited about the opportunities that lie ahead for me."

During Ledford's nearly nine-year tenure, the team has led all of Minor League Baseball in attendance, and established itself as a benchmark franchise winning seven (7) division titles, four (4) Pacific Coast League (PCL) Championships, and two (2) Triple-A Championships. Ledford was named Minor League Baseball's 2006 Executive of the Year by Baseball America.

"Alan's leadership has been critical to establishing the River Cats as a premier franchise in Minor League Baseball, and one of Sacramento's true community assets," said Susan Savage, River Cats CEO and Majority Owner. "We wish him the very best."

Ledford's resignation will be effective June 24. River Cats Vice President of Business Operations, Jeff Savage, will assume Ledford's responsibilities as General Manager, and the team will seek a replacement for Savage in his current role overseeing sales and marketing.
