Bees Win 44th of the Year With 6-2 Victory Over Kane County
Kane County started the scoring in the top of the third inning after 2B Yowill Espinal (1-3) hit a single, stole second base, advanced to third base on a ground out by DH Angel Franco (2-4) and scored on a wild pitch to give the Cougars a 1-0 lead.
Franco led off the sixth inning with a single down the third base line and scored on a RBI single from 1B Jake Kuebler (1-4) to give Kane County a 2-0 lead.
After a single to right field by Burlington 3B Tony Thompson (1-4) to lead off the bottom of the sixth inning, DH A.J. Kirby-Jones (3-4) hit a double to left field to move Thompson to third base. Thompson scored on an RBI single from SS Yordy Cabrera (2-4) and Kirby-Jones moved to third base. LF Jose Crisotomo (1-4) reached second base on a fielder's choice and Kirby-Jones scored on an error by Kane County C Travis Jones, who dropped a throw from 3B Cheslor Cuthbert when Kirby-Jones collided with him at home plate. 2B Wade Kirkland (1-2), who was a defensive replacement for 2B Nino Leyja in the top of the sixth inning, hit a two-run double to right field in his first at-bat and the Bees took a 4-2 lead.
Bees 1B Josh Whitaker (1-4) and Kirby-Jones hit back-to-back singles to start off the seventh inning and scored on a two-run triple by Cabrera to put Burlington up 6-2.
LHP Max Peterson pitched one inning in his Burlington debut, struck out one and earned the hold. RHP Mike Hart pitched two innings and struck out two. For the second straight night, the Bees did not issue a walk.
The Bees and Beloit Snappers begin a three-game series on Friday at 6:30 p.m. It's "Big Fun Friday" at Community Field.
