Reds 2016 Draft Class Ranked #1 in Baseball
Baseball America, the trade publication for Minor League Baseball, has ranked the Cincinnati Reds 2016 draft class as the best in all of baseball. The group was led by first round pick Nick Senzel and second round pick Chris Okey, who both joined the Dragons on July 1 and stayed with the club for the remainder of the season. Five other players from the Reds 2016 draft also spent time with the Dragons: Pitchers Ryan Hendrix, Lucas Benenati, Alex Webb, and Jesse Adams; and outfielder Daniel Sweet.
Baseball America ranked Senzel as the "Best Pure Hitter" in the draft as well as the college-drafted player with the "Best Pro Debut." They ranked him as the second "Closest to the Major Leagues" among players taken in the draft.
Additionally, Baseball America ranked outfielder Taylor Trammell, a high school pick who was selected in the supplemental first round by the Reds and spent the summer at Billings, as the third best Pro Debut in the draft among high school picks. Trammell is expected to spend the 2017 season with the Dragons.
